Many HSG spin-offs are dedicated to social issues in the second pandemic year. This is shown by the HSG Spin-Off Barometer 2021, surveyed for the fourth time in a row by the Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of St.Gallen. 23.4% of the 154 spin-offs are fully self-financed and act as job drivers in St.Gallen, the German-speaking region and in their respective business locations worldwide.

In addition, we attempt to explore how startups are leveraging their capabilities to develop successful strategies and to identify new opportunities under adverse conditions.
HSG Spin-Off Barometer 2019
76 companies participated in second HSG Spin-Off Barometer. The 76 mostly young companies generated more than 150 million Swiss francs in sales in 2018 and have created more than 3,500 jobs since their founding. In the St.Gallen region, 22 companies bear the HSG Spin-Off label.
HSG Spin-Off Barometer 2018
64 HSG spin-offs participated in the HSG Spin-Off Barometer 2018. They generated a total of more than CHF 100 million in revenue in 2017 and have created more than 2,800 jobs since their founding. Dietmar Grichnik, Professor of Entrepreneurship, presented the Barometer at the 2018 Annual Media Talk of the University of St.Gallen and provided comprehensive insights into entrepreneurship at the HSG.
